Imagine a rabbit as big as a dog? Well, one such rabbit exists in Scotland and is on its way to becoming a global star as it searches for a new home!

Anton spoke to Sharon Comrie, Superintendent at the Scottish SPCA animal rescue and rehoming centre, who filled him in on what its like to care for this giant seven-month-old rabbit.

The rabbit’s name is Atlas and at the moment he measures two and a half feet long. As rabbits grow up to about 12-13 months, Atlas has a bit to go yet.

Awww, look at his big ears...

At the moment the friendly rabbit who loves cuddles is being cared for by staff in Cardonald, Glasgow, after his owner could no longer look after him. He has been with them for two weeks and thanks to the reach of the net he is hot property, with global stars like Katie Price tweeting about him, and papers all over the world picking up the story.

The charity is appealing for potential new owners for the continental giant rabbit to get in touch. They have gotten 100’s of offers from all around the world for the mischievous character but are looking for a specific home due to his breed and size, ideally with someone who has kept a continental giant before.

As Sharon and Anton found out, he could be on his way to outgrowing the world’s biggest rabbit Darius, who is more than four feet long, weighs three and a half stone and lives in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire.

Here's Darius!
