We are starting a new series taking a ‘ooh I didn’t know that’ look at some of your favourite films.
Let’s start with what is rightly considered one of the greatest animated films of all time...Toy Story. Many of you (especially those with small ones) will have seen this Pixar classic a zillion times so before the DVD gets dragged out yet again here’s some facts about Buzz and the boys you may not have known!

Toy Story & The Shining
The editor of Toy Story was such a big fan of the “The Shining” that he made a nod to the film. The carpets in Sid’s house almost identical to the infamous ones from the classic horror film.
Jim Hanks as Woody
No, you didn’t read that wrong. Tom Hanks’ brother Jim plays the voice of Woody whenever Tom isn’t available. This includes shorts, video games, toy voices and others.
Hidden Mickey
Nearly every Disney film has a hidden Mickey in it (QUIET DOWN THE BACK) and the same is true for Toy Story. In the film, Mickey appears as a wall decoration in the center of a clock.
Take yer Time Lads!
Back in the early days of Pixar, it took the animators an average of four hours just to render ONE FRAME of the movie. That means that just one second of Toy Story would take nearly 120 hours to create. The total film required around 800,000 hours of rendering time across 117 computers!
There's a 'Home Improvement' Connection
The toolbox on top of the milk crate that Woody is trapped in is a Binford, the same type of tool that Tim Allen used on his television show Home Improvement."
Someone Else Who Was Considered to Voice Buzz Lightyear?
Along with Billy Crystal, Bill Murray was considered for the role of Buzz Lightyear. Awesome!
Pizza The Action
The Pizza Planet delivery truck, which has appeared in every Pixar film except The Incredibles, also appeared in all three Toy Story films.
