Ah here we are at last...our number 1 Christmas film of all time and really and truly there could only be 1

No.1 'It's A Wonderful Life' (1945)

You know the story: Angels, bells, “Auld Lang Syne,” a depressed and partially deaf savings-and-loan manager who tries to end it all only to be treated to an epiphanic retrospective of his life courtesy of a bumbling trainee-angel named Clarence.

Whether it warms your heart or you find it entirely too saccharine, Frank Capra’s 1946 film, “It’s a Wonderful Life,” like Mariah Carey’s 'All I Want For Christmas' or five additional pounds, is pretty darn hard to avoid over the Christmas but why would you? The film is a decidedly dark Dickensian tale of greed, regret, suicide but ultimately redemption. Some of the scenes with Old Man Potter are remarkably prescient when it comes to our own tawdry banking history of late and if you're not weeping into that duvet you've been wearing all week by the end...well you may want to ask for a heart next time round.

...Hmph!
