1 in 5 people are adamant they will not pay their water bills when they land in January.
Research carried out by Irish Water, as seen by the Sunday Independent, shows the most common reason given for not paying was because people disagreed in principle with water charges, followed by affordability issues.
This could mean that as many as 270,000 households are unlikely to pay the charges early next year
