There have been 1,466 new cases of COVID-19 in Ireland today.

The five-day moving average now stands at 1,479 - an increase on the 1,414 figure from yesterday, but down from 1,608 this day last week.

HSE figures released this morning show there were 311 patients with the virus in Irish hospitals - down from 328 on Friday.

There are 58 patients in ICU, down one compared to yesterday.

It was confirmed yesterday that 90% of people aged over 18 in Ireland have now been fully vaccinated, with a total of seven million vaccine doses administered to date.

While Ireland still has the highest case rate in Europe, latest ECDC figures show 14 European countries have higher death rates.
