159 people have lost their lives on Irish roads so far this year; 18 were motorcyclists, 9 were cyclists and 25 were pedestrians.
This week alone 9 people have been killed on the roads, with the latest, a 19 year old man who was killed when the car he was driving crashed into a wall in Charleville, County Cork.
The Road Safety Authority has teamed up with The Gardai to launch a road safety campaign ahead of the Bank Holiday weekend.
It comes as The Transport Minister says he's considering bringing forward a high level meeting to tackle the high number of deaths.
