It could be several months before a group of Irish people is brought before the US courts charged with racketeering.
The group has been indicted by a grand jury in South Carolina.
They are identified in court documents as a group of Irish Travellers who founded the isolated community known as Murphy Village.
19 members of the group have pleaded not guilty to the allegations.
In all, 22 people are named in the case and are accused of being members of a criminal organisation.
