The main event of the Easter Rising commemoration weekend is underway
A parade featuring thousands of defence forces members is making its way through Dublin city.
The Proclamation of Independence was read out at the GPO on O'Connell St.

President Michael D. Higgins was invited to lay a wreath by acting Taoiseach Enda Kenny which was followed by a minutes silence.
The ceremony on O'Connell St concluded with the raising of the national flag on top of the GPO and a flypast by the Air Corps while the National Anthem played:

Huge crowds have gathered here in Dublin for the main event of this Easter Commemoration weekend.
More than 3,500 personnel from the army, An Garda Siochana, the Fire Service, Coast Guard and civil defence are taking part.
The parade started at St Stephens' Green at 10am and will pass a number of areas that were flash points during the Rising including the Royal College of Surgeons and Dublin Castle.
People attending are reminded that much of Dublin City Centre is restricted this afternoon, and the Luas is not running due to strike action.
