Around 18,000 homes, farms, and businesses are without power on Wednesday morning.

ESB Networks is working to restore supplies lost during bad weather yesterday and overnight.

The majority of impacted properties are located in the west and southwest of the country, which were under a series of wind and rain warnings on Tuesday.

ESB Networks said its crews have been working since first light on Wednesday morning to restore electricity.

It has said efforts will continue throughout the day and expects the vast majority of impacted customers expected to have their electricity supply restored by this evening.

People are being reminded to stay away from fallen wires, and they remain live and extremely dangerous.
