In the US, five contractors who worked on the Berkeley building where six students died are in danger of losing their state licenses.
Following a nine month investigation the Contractors State License Board in California decided that "poor workmanship" in the waterproofing of the balcony resulted in water damage that caused it to rot and eventually collapse.
The students, five Irish citizens working on J1 visas in the San Francisco Bay Area and one Irish-American, were thrown 50 feet to the ground when the balcony gave way during a party last June.
Last week, Alameda County District found that no criminal charges would be brought in relation to the collapse.
