A boy has been killed in a suspected hit and run accident in Co Derry.

The teenager was knocked down on Newbridge Road in Coleraine last night at around 6.30.

Police say the car that struck the teenager failed to stop at the scene.

The vehicle was located in the Magherafelt area later.

A 23 year old man was arrested and is being questioned on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death.

In a separate incident, a motorcyclist has died in a collision in Co Down.

The man in his 20s died when his motorbike collided with a car on Crossgar Road in Saintfield yesterday evening at around 5.40.

The man died in hospital from his injuries.
