Broad welcome for Housing report

50 thousand social houses should be delivered over the next five years – and rent supplement should be increased to reflect current market rights.

They’re just two of 70 recommendations by the Housing Committee – who want a moratorium on home repossessions until laws on mortgage arrears are reformed.

Anti Austerity Alliance TD Ruth Coppinger – who sat on the committee, says its report is not ambitious enough, but there’s been a broad welcome from other stakeholders.
