COVID-19: 398 New Cases Reported In Ireland Today

The Department of Health has today reported 398 new cases of COVID-19 in Ireland.

The five-day moving average of new cases currently stands at 324.

Meanwhile, HSE figures show there are 70 COVID-19 patients being treated in Irish hospitals - including 23 in intensive care.

It was reported today that St James’s Hospital - one of the largest hospitals in the country - has no inpatients with the virus for the first time since March 2020.

The vaccine rollout is also continuing, with the Taoiseach today saying the current goal is to have 70% of adults fully vaccinated by the end of next month.

The HSE has confirmed that community pharmacists will start administering the Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine next week.

The single-shot jabs will be given to people aged over 50 to complete the vaccination of that age cohort.

That process will get underway from Monday, with more than 1,000 community pharmacists set to be involved.
