Fans have been leaving flowers and candles outside what's thought to have been his childhood home in Brixton, in south London.
His publicist this morning confirmed the singers death from cancer at the age of 69.
He'd been battling with the disease for 18 months, and passed away yesterday, surrounded by his family.
His career spanned four decades - during that time he recorded 26 studio albums and 9 live albums...

His son - film director Duncan Jones - has tweeted that he's 'Very sorry and sad to say it's true'.

He released his new album Blackstar last week.
His official Facebook page says "While many ....will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the familyÂ’s privacy during their time of grief"
