Voters are getting ready to head to the polls tomorrow to choose the next President.

Heather Humphreys and Catherine Connolly are the two candidates contesting the election.

Polling Day

As the country prepares to head to the polls, attention is turning to who will take up residence in the Áras.

The Electoral Commission has been encouraging people to turn out and make their voices heard.

Chief Executive Art O’Leary says the weather can have an impact on turnout.

"The academics are very clear here that weather affects turnout by between 3-5%.

So if it rains tomorrow then we'll have a lower turnout, but I think the forecast is for clear weather so fingers crossed."

Polling stations open at 7am tomorrow morning and close at 10 tomorrow night.

So whether you’re an early bird or a last-minute voter, there’s plenty of time to have your say in who becomes the next President.
