Facebook to stop routing British sales through Ireland

Facebook is to stop routing certain funds through Ireland and will begin paying millions more in tax to the UK government as a result.

The social media giant has announced it's going to stop routing sales from most of its British advertisers through Dublin.

It says the new policy will come into force in April, and that it will provide greater transparency.

It means it will now pay 20% corporation tax on profits from its UK sales.
