Fianna Fail Leader Rules Out Election in 2019

The Fianna Fáil leader has ruled out a general election in 2019.

Micheál Martin says they will give the government all of this year to work through Brexit.

Some Fianna Fáil TDs want to collapse the government and have an election this year if there's a Brexit deal reached.

But Micheál Martin says that won't happen.

In his address to his party's Ard Fheis in Dublin he said  the current Government is incapable of delivering on the challenges facing the country.

But the Fianna Fail leader dealt head-on with grassroots complaints over continuing to support it - saying pulling out in the run up to Brexit would only leave the country exposed.

He also slammed the Government's record on health and housing, accusing it of missed targets and failed policies:
