A worker at a manufacturing plant in Illinois has opened fire killing five people, after being told he'd lost his job.

The 45 year-old gunman, who was later shot dead, also wounded five police officers in the attack in Aurora, an industrial suburb west of Chicago.
It's a shame that mass shootings such as this have become common place in our country.
The local mayor Richard Irvin says it's a sad and painful day for the city, he said it's a shame that cold and heartless offender would be so selfish as to think he has a right to take an innocent life.
