The NBRU says the fact there'll be a major cultural change in Bus Eireann is reflected in the Labour Court recommendation.

The court of last resort issued its proposal this afternoon.

Pickets have been lifted at depots around the country but it's expected to be lunchtime tomorrow before a full service operates.

There'll now be a consultation phase so that workers fully understand what they're voting on.

NBRU General Secretary Dermot O'Leary says it will take them some time to analyse it:

There'll be around 200 at different levels - with 120 voluntary redundancies for drivers.

Some roles will be consolidated and centralised and one of the main themes is that everyone should become more efficient and flexible

Top executives aren't escaping either - with some senior roles to go and a 10 per cent pay cut for those on over 60-thousand euro.

Dundalk maintenance garage is to close, along with some routes in rural parts of the country - and the Court has also proposed a consolidated pay rate.

Bus Éireann says it could be lunchtime tomorrow before all buses are back on the roads and is advising customers to check its website and social media.

Strike action in the long-running dispute has lasted for 21 days.

The company claims it's been losing half a million a day and could face insolvency - something disputed by the unions.

Bus Eireann says while it will try to resume normal services as soon as possible it could be lunchtime tomorrow before a full service operates.

Going forward, the relationship between both sides is likely to remain strained for some time.
