The Garda Commissioner is restricting his movements after coming into close contact with a garda officer who later tested positive for Covid-19.
Drew Harris has been restricting his movement and is working from home since being informed, due to the requirement to isolate for two weeks.
He was also tested for the virus at the weekend, which came back negative.
In a separate incident, Gardai say a number of other members are also restricting their movements after being identified as close contacts of a positive case.
Gardai say all members remain available for duty and are working remotely.
