Gardaí in Dublin believe they've foiled a robbery in the north of the city.

This afternoon's operation took place outside a shop on Rosemount Avenue in Artane in the North of the City at about half past two this afternoon.

Armed officers from the Garda Emergency Response Unit moved in on a gang of men who they suspect were about to carry out a robbery.

Several arrests have been made and a number of items - including a gun - have been seized and taken away for tests.

The Suspects have been taken to various garda stations across the capital.

And at least one car from outside the shop.
