Gardaí recorded nearly 1 million breath tests in the Pulse system that never took place.
The discrepancy came to light when The Medical Bureau of Road Safety - who are responsible for distributing breathalysers - found that the number of single-use mouthpieces ordered for the devices was nearly 1 million fewer than the number of tests allegedly conducted from 2011 to 2016.

Gardaí announced today that a new system has been put in place for recording breath tests in Pulse and that the new advanced breathalysers are being sourced.

In addition, almost 15,000 people are going to have their driving convictions overturned because of a garda mistake.
It meant offenders were given a court summons instead of just a fine.
All the cases will be appealed in court over the next few months and will be overturned.
Assistant Commissioner Michael Finn apologised for the mistake, and outlined how they're going to rectify it:
