Independent Alliance TD Shane Ross was the first person in the country to be elected after topping the poll earlier in the same constituency.
Roisin Shortall was the first Social Democrat ever to be elected.

So far Fianna Fáil leads the way with 12 TDs, Fine Gael has 6, Sinn Fein has 4, the Social Democrats 3, 2 for the Independent Alliance, 2 unaligned Independents, and 1 each for the People Before Profit Anti Austerity Alliance and the Green Party.
