German Chancellor Angela Merkel has delivered an historic address to both British Houses of Parliament on a one-day visit to the UK.
She warned that the EU's mission of maintaining peace in Europe was not over, and stressed the need to "stand up resolutely against extremists and the inhumane."
She also pointed to figures predicting that 90 per cent of global growth will be outside Europe over the next 5 years.
Mrs Merkel will hold talks on the EU and Ukraine with British Prime Minister David Cameron this afternoon - and take tea with the Queen.
David Cameron is hoping to persuade Mrs Merkel to accept the need for EU treaty changes that would allow him to bring back powers from Brussels before a promised referendum on Britain's EU membership in 2017.
