The Minister for Foreign Affairs says the government is doing all its can to secure the release of Ibrahim Halawa.

The details of a letter, which was written by Ibrahim and smuggled out of prison, was printed in the Irish Edition in the Times on-line.

In it, Ibrahim described horrific cases of torture suffered by him and his fellow inmates in Egyptian government.

The 20-year-old from Firhouse in Dublin was arrested taking pictures of a Muslim Brotherhood protest while on holiday in Cairo in 2013 with his sisters.
