The Garda Representative Association says it needs more time to consider a new pay deal.

The union's Central Executive Committee met today to discuss the agreement reached with the Department of Justice.

It's now adjourned until Wednesday, when it will discuss the matter further at a Special Delegate Conference in Tullamore.

It's hoped the deal - which includes a Rent Allowance and the removal of a pay freeze - will avoid industrial action.
