The Great Pink run is just around the corner and one brave woman is calling for as many men, women and children as possible to get involved this year.

Emma's life changed on the 27th of June 2017.

Three months after her 30th birthday Emma, a teacher from Raheny in Dublin, was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer.

It was a massive shock as she didn't have any family history or any of the major symptoms associated with the disease.

In the lead up to Emma's diagnosis she felt an overwhelming fatigue but all of her blood tests were clear and nothing else seemed wrong.

Emma's GP referred her to the breast clinic in Beaumont, Dublin to get checked as a precaution. The day she went to the clinic they found a lump, the same day she had two ultrasounds, two mammograms and three biopsies.

Within a week Emma was diagnosed and two weeks after that she had a double mastectomy and started chemotherapy the following week.

Breast cancer can affect all ages, that is why its so important to support charities like Breast Cancer Ireland who raise vital funds for advances in research and awareness.

This year Emma has registered for the Great Pink Run which takes place on the 9th Sept and it's so easy for anyone who wants to help to get involved.

This run is open to everyone, men, women and children can all register, because everyone is affected by breast cancer.

1 in 9 women will be affected by breast cancer in their lifetime, so run, walk or walk the dog for them.

Register and run for the women in your life here.

The Great Pink Run is taking place on Saturday 9th September in Dublin’s Phoenix Park & Sunday 10th September in Kilkenny Castle Park.
