The High Court has ruled that the detention of a man arrested following the raid of a high-end Dublin apartment with gangland links is not unlawful.

Naoufal Fassih, a Dutch national of Moroccan origin, is facing a number of charges including the possession of false travel documents.

Gardai found expensive Rolex watches and €12,000 in cash when they raided the luxury apartment on Baggot St in Dublin earlier this month.

It had come to their attention that the apartment was linked to the Kinahan organised crime gang.

Naoufal Fassih was said to be wearing a €40,000 special edition watch and runners worth €800 when he was arrested.

He’s facing six charges including the possession of a false Dutch passport, a fake Belgian ID card and some cannabis.

He was refused bail last week but challenged his detention because he felt his application was concluded without hearing from both sides.

However, Mr. Justice Seamus Noonan said he didn’t believe this was an accurate portrayal of what happened and decided his detention was lawful.

Under armed guard, Mr. Fassih was then taken to the Extradition Court, where he heard he’s wanted back in the Netherlands to face various charges.
