Hundreds of secondary schools will close after the ASTI voted for strike action on seven days starting on October 27th.
The union, which represents 18 thousand teachers is also withdrawing from supervision duties from November 7th.

The ASTI is in dispute with the Department of Education over pay for newer entrants.
