The National Kidney Transplant Unit has been officially reopened after a 6 million euro refurbishment.

The redeveloped ward can accommodate 21 patients, and is specially designed to suit immunosuppressed patients following a transplant.

Since the service was established, the Beaumont Hospital transplant team has carried out over 4000 kidney transplants.
