Gardai are investigating the death of a man on board an Aer Lingus flight from Lisbon to Dublin yesterday evening.

Flight EI 485 had to be diverted to Cork after a 24 year old man became unwell during the two hour journey.

The man became agitated, fell unconscious and was pronounced dead some time later.

The 170 passengers and crew members were taken from the plane and transferred by bus to Dublin.

Another male passenger who was reportedly bitten during the flight, is still being treated at Cork University Hospital.
