Talks are continuing between Dublin City Council and local residents of the Liberties area about the use of a former parish hall as a homeless shelter.

Earlier this month, the residents won a legal challenge over the council’s decision to open Carman’s Hall on Francis Street for rough sleepers.

The judge agreed there was a lack of consideration for the area’s overall development plan but didn't order the 50 odd beds be vacated immediately.

Instead the case was adjourned until today to hear submissions on the best course of action.

The court heard discussions were ongoing and both parties agreed to a further two week adjournment to see if an agreement can be reached.
