A man in his 20s who was seriously assaulted in Tralee during the week has died from his injuries.

The incident happened on Wednesday night when Gardai were called to Killeen Woods in Tralee and found a man unconscious in the front garden.

He was rushed to Kerry General Hospital and two men in their late 20 and early 30s were arrested near the scene.

Both men have since been released without charge and files are being prepared for the DPP.

A post mortem on the man's body is expected to be carried out later today at Tralee General Hospital.
