A man accused of raping his wife during the breakdown of their marriage has been convicted of threatening to seriously harm her with a knife.
A jury has also found him guilty of making another threat after confronting her outside a shopping centre in Dublin.
The woman claims her marriage with the accused began to unravel when their son was six months old. She said he started complaining about all the attention he was giving the baby.
She said things got worse over the years and she told him she wanted a separation in April 2014.
On the night of the alleged rape, May 25th 2014, she told the jury he threatened to cut her face off with a knife after telling her she didnÂ’t get to decide if they separated.
This afternoon, the jury convicted him of making that threat.
He was also found guilty of making another threat to cause her serious harm the following month.
The jurors still have to consider four charges against the man – the rape allegation, his wife’s claim that he head butted her and two further allegations of making threats.
They'Â’ll return to the jury room in the morning.
