French police have shot dead a man outside a police station in northern Paris.
He attempted to enter the building holding a knife.
He was also wearing what looked like an explosive vest - but police now say it was fake.

It comes on the first anniversary of the Charlie Hebdo attacks which claimed 17 lives.
I've been speaking to Vivienne Walt, Paris Correspondent with Time Magazine, who is at the scene.

He says the gunman - who killed four people - was strangely polite:
