A major security and traffic operation will be place in Slane when Metallica headlines the iconic venue on June 8th.
The population of the town is expected to multiply by 40 with 75 thousand heavy metal fans coming from all over the country and beyond to watch the rockers in action.
Slane Castle owner Lord Henry Mountcharles says they are ready to rock: 'We've been excited abbout Metallica for a considerable length of time. It's a very apt act to follow Guns N' Roses. Slane has always been at heart a rock and roll venue and Slane definitely will rock on June 8th'
Slane organisers are hoping to avoid the traffic chaos that occurred at the Guns N’Roses concert in 2017.
There were major traffic jams on the way to the site, with some people abandoning their cars.
A new traffic plan is in place this year with an extra carpark in place but people are being advised to take public transport with buses coming from every county in Ireland.
People are being advised to leave in plenty of time with airport style security checks in place .
