The National Coordination Group says water levels are continuing to rise in the lower half of the River Shannon.
The west and south west region has been worst affected by flooding in the aftermath of Storm Desmond.
Met Eireann has issued weather alerts as further rain is forecast overnight and tomorrow.
An Orange alert for rain is due to come into effect in Clare, Cork and Kerry after midnight tonight, and a Yellow warning for rainfall will be in place for the remaining counties of Munster, much of Leinster and Connacht.

Meanwhile, an emergency helpline is being operated by Clare County Council in response to the ongoing threat of flooding and further heavy rainfall this weekend.
The phoneline, which is being established in order to deal with requests for assistance from the public, will operate from 7am tomorrow morning (Saturday).
