The mother of a baby girl found in a recycling plant in Bray in County Wicklow yesterday is being urged to come forward.

Gardai say post mortem results suggest the baby was born some weeks earlier than initially thought and that the baby was a caucasian female.

Gardai also say there is nothing to suggest deliberate injuries were caused to the baby girl.

In a statement this evening, Superintendent Pat Ward from Bray Garda Station, said he's very concerned for the welfare of the mum and is urging her and the baby's father to contact them, where they will be treated 'discreetly and sensitively'.

An incident room has been established and Gardaí are liaising with the HSE.
