A baby boy has died after being found seriously injured under his mother's body, at Cork University Maternity Hospital.
The 36 year old mother - who has two other children - was discovered unresponsive on the floor of her hospital room on Monday morning.
The newborn passed away shortly after 7 o'clock last night despite efforts to stabilise his condition.
South - South West Hospital Group says a full medical investigation is currently underway.
