Over 30,000 people are waiting more than six months for hospital treatment.

The Sunday Business Post reports that waiting lists have spiraled since the coalition took office in March of 2011.

Of those waiting on care, almost three thousand are children.

The figures have been released by the National Treatment Purchase fund.
