Pat Hickey, President of the Olympics Council of Ireland, is facing multiple charges in Brazil for his involvement with illegal ticket sales.
The 71 year old was arrested in a hotel room in Rio this morning.

The matter is making headlines around the world, as Mr Hickey is also a member of the International Olympics Committee.

The Olympic Council of Ireland says Pat Hickey has taken the decision to step aside temporarily as their President
In a statement issued this evening, the OCI says Mr.Hickey has taken the decision to step aside temporarily as President of the OCI and International Olympic Council, until the matter is fully resolved.
Mr. Hickey says he will continue to cooperate and assist with all ongoing enquiries.
