Rose of Tralee fans won't be hearing any poetry at this year's festival.
Organisers say recitals have been banned to ensure the competition remains modern and fast moving.
They are encouraging Roses to showcase some livelier talents such as hula hooping, kickboxing and even making breakfast rolls.
