At least two people have been hospitalized following disturbances in central Dublin today, involving anti-racism demonstrators and members of the anti-Islam group Pegida.

An RTÉ camera man was among those injured in scuffles on O'Connell between Gardaí and demonstrators protesting against Pegida.

RTE says it will lodge a complaint with the Gardai about the policing of the incident.

The group - which has been accused of racism - was launching its first Irish branch at a rally in central Dublin.

The Irish anti-immigration group Idenity Ireland said on social media that its chairman Peter O'Loughlin had also been hospitalised during the confrontation.

One of the group's organising the anti-Pegida rally has distanced itself from the violence.

ENAR Ireland said it regretted hearing reports of skirmishes outside of the rally.

It claimed that "such incidents invariably accompany the PEGIDA phenomenon.“
