Over 62 percent of rank-and-file gardai face pay freezes - starting tomorrow.

Representatives of the Garda Representative Association have been protesting outside the Dail calling for the Government to honour the terms of the Haddington Road Agreement, which expires today.

But the Government says Lansdowne Road is the only mechanism for pay restoration - a deal the GRA won’t sign up to.

Under the Financial Mergency Measures in the Public Interest – known as FEMPI – organisations that haven’t signed up to Lansdowne Road face a pay freeze.

The GRA, which represents 10 thousand gardai, says they may have to consider industrial action if the Government presses ahead with pay cuts;
