Gardai are carrying out a search in south Dublin today in relation to the disappearance of Trevor Deely.
The search in a wooded area of Chapelizod is being carried out after new information came to light and it will take several weeks.
22-year-old Trevor Deely from Naas in Co Kildare was last seen in December 2000 while walking home from his Christmas Party close to Baggot Street Bridge in Dublin.
The file on Trevor Deely has never been closed and there have been a number of appeals for information over the years but Trevor has never been found.
It's hoped the latest search will lead to a breakthrough in the case.
In recent months, gardai have been working to identify a man who was seen outside Trevor's workplace on the night he disappeared.
Last year, they initiated a complete review of the investigation into his disappearance after enhanced CCTV footage showed him in contact with a man who detectives believe was 'acting suspiciously'.
Gardai say they still haven't ID the man in the CCTV footage. The search is unrelated to the footage and came about as a result of new info
