There were concerns for the singer's safety after police in the Chicago suburb of Wilmette issued a missing person alert, expressing concern for her well-being.

The Dubliner had not been seen since going on a bicycle ride at 6am (12 noon Irish time) yesterday.

Police issued the appeal for help in tracing the 49-year-old, after receiving a call expressing concern for her well being.

The singer's supposed disappearance set social media alight, with many critical of 'jokes' about the often unpredictable artist, who has battled mental health issues in the past.
