Smyths toy store has told staff at a branch in Jervis St., Dublin, to take down a sign on the door informing members of the public they had removed products made in Israel from their shelves.

A statement for Smyths, which is a Galway-based retailer, said they "do not engage in
national or international political affairs."

The statement said "one store last week took products from one country off its shelves, but this decision has now been reversed."

It said Customers should be free to make their own decisions.

The sign - which was widely circulated on social media - stated that the store had removed products made in Israel by AMAV and other companies. AMAV specialise in arts & crafts products.
