Taoiseach Condemns Video Online Mocking Michaela McAreavey

The Taoiseach has said he can't comprehend a video online which mocks the death of Michaela McAreavey.

It appeared to show a crowd singing a derogatory song about the murdered teacher filmed during centenary celebrations in Northern Ireland.

Two men have apologised for their involvement in the video saying it was a matter of "deep shame and regret" to have been involved in broadcasting and singing about her murder.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin says it's hard to comprehend:

"I was appalled and horrified at that video. We all remember that horrific murder of Michaela McAreavey.

"It's beyond comprehension that people could behave in that manner. And be so indifferent to the trauma the family suffered."
