A 13 year old boy has died after being knocked down in County Donegal last night.

It happened in Ballymacarry on the main road from Buncrana to Carndonagh at about half past ten.

Gardai say a second pedestrian - a man in his late 50's - was also hurt and has been taken to Letterkenny General Hospital.

His injuries aren't believed to be life threatening.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene and his remains have been taken to Letterkenny hospital for a post mortem.

The road is closed for a forensic examination and Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to contact them at Buncrana station.
