DONALD TRUMP has signed a new executive order to clamp down on immigrants to the US from six Muslim-majority countries.
The order will take effect on the very day that Trump is due to host Enda Kenny at the White House - a visit which is already opposed by many in Ireland due to Trump's stance on immigration.
The new order replaces a previous one, issued on January 27th, which was later struck down by a federal appeals court.
Kenny has faced calls to cancel his visit in the wake of that order being issued.
The ban will affect citizens from Yemen, Syria, Somalia, Libya, Iran and Sudan. Iraq, which featured on a previous list of banned countries, has been exempted on this occasion.
The new ban also does not apply to permanent US residents, which proved to be a major source of confusion when the previous ban was enacted.
